Less is more: The clean beauty trend focuses on natural and sustainable care products that are free of chemical ingredients or microplastics. Conscious consumers, led by Generation Z and Millennials, are driving the change.

Dermatologists have observed that more and more people are thinking about their choice of skin care products. Consumers are very keen on natural solutions for skin problems, which is also increasing awareness of harmful ingredients and their alternatives.

Anyone looking for natural or "clean" cleansing methods should consider all areas of their body – including, and especially, the intimate area. It is extremely sensitive because the skin there is very thin and has few sebaceous glands.

This makes it difficult for the skin to protect itself from external influences. When cleaning this area, it is therefore particularly important to use mild and gentle methods, even after going to the toilet. Dermatologists advise against anything that could irritate the sensitive intimate skin.

Cleaning the bottom with a warm, pure jet of water provides well-being and prevents skin irritation.
Cleaning the bottom with a warm, pure jet of water provides well-being and prevents skin irritation.

This applies to recycled or printed toilet paper, as it contains chemicals and dyes, as well as cleaning products containing fragrances, soaps or preservatives.

the Clean Beauty Shower toilets like the AquaClean Mera from Geberit offer this in its purest form. The bottom is cleaned after each use with a gentle water jet, the temperature, strength, and position of which can be individually adjusted.

For drying afterwards, some models have an integrated hairdryer. Further information and assistance with model selection can be found at geberit-aquaclean.de. Cleansing with pure water provides a lasting feeling of freshness and is gentle on the skin.

Naturalness is a trend – in bathroom furnishings as well as in personal care.

In a 2020 Forsa survey, the sanitaryware manufacturer Geberit wanted to find out how Germans handle toilet hygiene. The result: 89 percent of respondents still use conventional toilet paper, while 45 percent use other methods such as wet wipes, soap, or special intimate washes.

Only 12 percent swear by pure water for intimate cleansing. There is still a lot of room for improvement here: As dermatologists repeatedly confirm, 'over-cleaning' in intimate care is a problem that causes skin irritation in many people.

Washing with fresh water is gentle. It is perfectly sufficient to gently cleanse the sensitive intimate area and restore the optimal pH balance.
