In the Apple thriller “Wolfs” (2024) starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, a BMW 5 Series of the E60 generation plays an almost main role – but not as an M5, rather as a BMW 550i.
Under the hood is a 4,8 liter V8 with around 360 hp, which accelerates the sedan to 100 km/h in just over five seconds, making it the ideal movie car for long night drives and quick getaways.

Thus, the Series 5 became a movie hero.
The car is from the E60 series designed by Chris Bangle and features the sporty M Sport package including black "Spider" rims, which makes it easy to mistake it visually for an M5.
Several 550i models were used for the shoot and modified in various ways – including hybrid versions of pre- and facelift details, as well as an interior with a BMW cockpit and US Chevy interior mirror including OnStar buttons.

Bullet holes and stunt modifications
For the big action moments in “Wolfs”, one of the 550i cars was prepared by Hollywood picture car specialist Dennis McCarthy and his company Vehicle Effects.
One model was massively “aged” for the post-gunfire scenes: hundreds of simulated bullet holes, studio paint, safety reinforcements and special FX markings make the aftermath of a long gunfight look believable.
From the film set to the museum – and to the auction
After filming, the badly damaged 2008 BMW 550i E60 went directly from Dennis McCarthy's collection to Movie Cars Central, a French museum for famous movie cars.
At the end of November 2025, this exact screen-used copy was in France at Bonhams auctioned off – with a winning bid of 6.907 pounds, which, despite its prominent film history, is rather in the lower price range for this 550i.

Why the "Wolf" BMW became a favorite
The car had long since achieved cult status in fan forums and social media because it serves as the rolling base for the two "wolves" in many key scenes – including a hidden arsenal of weapons under the spare wheel in the trunk.
Thanks to its prominent cast, striking E60 look and documented film history, the 550i from "Wolfs" is today an exciting BMW film car of modern times.
