The car manufacturer Audi has now issued a warning about fraudulent activities in the used car trade.
Criminals are currently using fake websites and catalogs to lure potential buyers into traps with unrealistically low prices for used Audi models.
Buyers should be especially cautious if advance payments are required without the possibility of a personal inspection of the vehicle.

Deceptively realistic forgeries are in circulation
The fraudsters use professionally designed websites and sales materials that are virtually indistinguishable from genuine Audi AG sales channels.
These fake offers are currently spreading in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The aim of the scam is to trick potential buyers into making down payments or full payments for vehicles that don't actually exist.
Identity theft at Audi dealerships
Particularly insidious: The perpetrators not only use fake contact details such as email addresses, telephone numbers and bank details, but also resort to photos of real employees of authorized Audi sales partners.
This approach is intended to create additional trust and underline the legitimacy of the fraudulent offers.

Several victims have already been reported
According to the company, several people have already fallen victim to the scam and suffered financial losses.
Audi AG has since filed a criminal complaint and is cooperating with the investigating authorities.
What those affected should do now
Anyone who has come across one of the fake offers or has already transferred money should contact the police immediately.
When prices for used cars are unusually low, it is generally advisable to carefully check the reliability of the seller and, if in doubt, to contact the manufacturer or an authorized dealer directly.
