A Hamburg-based company unveiled the first watch with a minimalist design about two years ago. Financed through crowdfunding, the watch brand Sternglas launched an online shop and, according to its own figures, has sold several thousand watches to date.
What fueled demand so much: The elegant timepieces from the first series are available for under 200 euros. In the upscale watch market, where every buyer would like to stand out with a special piece and an individual story to go with the product, this is a really attractive selling price.
Now the successful makers around founder Dustin Fontaine are bringing out their latest model: a Sternglas automatic. The minimalist Bauhaus design from Hamburg has remained almost the same.

A completely new feature of the watch with its six-screwed stainless steel case is the automatic movement with date function, which has a power reserve of 42 hours. The look? Star glass, so understated, classy and cool.
This version was requested primarily by watch lovers and collectors of the young brand, as the company's founder explains. Because for many gentlemen, life is somehow more pleasant with a real automatic watch on their wrist.

And Sternglas is also taking an unconventional approach to sales. The new automatic model will only be available from March 2018, but can be ordered immediately on sternglas.de can be pre-ordered for 289 euros. But be careful: This price only applies to the first five hundred watches.
After that, the Sternglas Automatic normally costs 349 euros. That still means a lot of automatic for relatively little money...
