Summer has many wonderful aspects. It's warm, the sun shines, the days are long, and summer clothes and shoes can finally be worn again. But first, you should get your feet and legs ready for summer.
During the winter, foot care is often neglected and the legs could also use a little more attention in terms of care after the cold season.
Show your feet
To keep your feet feeling incredibly soft, start with a foot bath. The ideal water temperature is between 20 and 25 degrees Celsius, allowing you to cool your feet slightly while simultaneously beginning the foot care process. The pleasantly warm water softens the calluses. Catherine Frimmel, managing partner of Catherine, recommends paying additional attention to nourishing substances such as chamomile and sage extract.
These can be easily removed after bathing with a callus file. It is also possible to make the feet soft again with a special foot peeling. Catherine Frimmel: "Here, mild salts, mostly sea salt, enriched with nourishing oils, remove excess dead skin cells."

But no matter what aromas you use to bathe your feet, you should take them out of the water after about ten minutes and dry them thoroughly, especially between the toes. Otherwise you run the risk of providing a breeding ground for fungi and bacteria. After the foot bath, massage in a special foot cream and allow it to absorb well.
If you take a foot bath in the evening: After applying the cream, make sure you put on socks and wake up with soft, smooth feet. But what is the difference between foot creams and hand creams or body lotions? "They differ in their active ingredients. In the foot care sector, olive oil, vitamin C, marigold blossoms and - very important - no aluminum are used," explains Catherine Frimmel.
If your feet smell unpleasant, we recommend Valérie Gall, Marketing Manager at Philips, “It’s important to ensure that both shoes and socks are made of breathable materials. Synthetics and plastics should be avoided; cotton socks and leather shoes are more suitable. Powders or special sprays can also help reduce odor.”
A smooth affair
When the shorts, skirts and dresses finally appear in summer, this means that we women have to start removing hair from our legs regularly again. While some people swear by wet shaving in the shower, others prefer to use an epilator or a completely painless hair removal cream. Ultimately, the thickness of the hairs and experience with different hair removal methods determine which is best for you.

After hair removal, regardless of the method used, it is important to take care of your skin afterwards. It is important to pay attention to the ingredients, advises Valérie Gall. "A high proportion of aloe vera provides the necessary moisture, and ingredients such as chamomile have a calming effect on irritated skin. However, anyone who regularly suffers from spots or severe skin irritation after shaving should consider changing their hair removal method."
Eene mene meck and you're gone
If getting rid of unwanted cellulite were that easy, probably no woman in the world would have it anymore. Unfortunately, achieving the desired results requires a combined effort of cosmetics, exercise, and diet. So, it's not impossible to get rid of cellulite or prevent it from forming in the first place.
Of course, exercise is the best way to combat unwanted dimples, but drinking plenty of fluids and eating a healthy, balanced diet also play an important role in both preventing and combating cellulite. The earlier countermeasures are taken, the easier it is to reduce cellulite and venous disorders and the greater the prophylactic effect.
It is therefore important to recognise the stage of cellulite: in the first stage it only shows up when you do the pinch test, in the second it shows up in specific situations (for example when sitting, when muscles are tense or in bright light) and in the third stage it is always visible. The treatment of cellulite must be just as individual as its progression.

In general, the following things help, explains Rudolf Weyergans from Weyergans High Care AG:
1. Lymphatic drainage: You can and should do this yourself – and creams can also help.
2. Sufficient exercise: This is necessary because of the so-called muscle pump that drives the lymphatic system.
3. Tightening connective tissue: Best done in a qualified treatment institute
4. Change your diet: This is partly responsible for loose connective tissue and is therefore the main cause of cellulite. There are foods that specifically weaken the connective tissue of the skin.
Useful sports include cycling or sports such as aqua jogging or aqua pilates. Even cycling to work every day can get your legs in shape, and jogging and pilates in the water are far more effective than doing them on land. But switching from the elevator to the stairs also helps to counteract unsightly dents.
Those who are really sporty should take two steps at once. This also trains the gluteal muscles. If you are looking for further support for your skin against cellulite, you should use special anti-cellulite creams or lotions that refine and firm the skin. These are particularly helpful if they contain caffeine and caffeine salts, for example, as these accelerate fat loss and reduce the size of fat cells.
And with these tips, there's hardly anything standing in the way of sexy feet and legs for the summer...
