The cult brand Horse trailers Now, in collaboration with the Italian designer and artist Caterina Mongillo, known online as Metagirl, it presents one of the boldest sneaker collaborations of the year: the Premium Old Skool 36 Diva.
The drop combines skater DNA with hyper-feminine aesthetics – turning a fame silhouette of sneakers into a statement piece.
The idea behind the collaboration
Vans and Metagirl share a common spirit of transformation and experimentation. And with the Premium Old Skool 36 Diva, both brands are now reinterpreting classic Vans silhouettes – through a prism of contradictions.
For rawness meets refinement, strength meets softness, and functionality meets fantasy. Excess and imperfection are not concealed, but celebrated as expressions of freedom.
Since founding Metagirl in 2023, Caterina Mongillo has established herself as the voice of a new generation of sneaker designers. Her approach: to take shoes and icons and transform them into vehicles of radical femininity.
Rivets and deliberate overpowering
The Old Skool 36 Diva is based on a canvas upper that is taken out of its familiar context by striking design interventions. Snakeskin and rivets incorporated into the foxing tape on the vamp create an immediate visual impact.
The white sidestripe, the trademark of the Old Skool, appears deliberately frayed and raw-cut, creating a deliberate contrast to the high-gloss fittings and decoration of the rest of the shoe.
Perhaps the most striking element: a diagonal strap over the vamp, adorned with rhinestone details and anchored by an oversized, gemstone-encrusted gold buckle.
Golden studs along the toe cap and side further enhance the tactile dimension of the shoe. The collection is completed by white ruffle knee-high socks.

Caterina Mongillo sums up the work behind the shoe: The Diva is the ultimate embodiment of the energy that Metagirl represents – a tribute to that woman.
Inspired by hours spent browsing online marketplaces, the craftsmanship of discontinued 2010s brands, and the underground of vintage jewelry, the shoe carries a clear message: It's not footwear, it's a true fashion rebellion.
