The butler service is one of the outstanding features of the Scenic Eclipse and Scenic Eclipse II. In each of the 114 suites, guests have access to a personal butler around the clock.


The world's first two Discovery yachts in the ultra-luxury segment offer not only exclusive experiences such as submarine dives or helicopter tours, but also a unique service concept.

In an interview, the head butler, Nenad Popovic, provides insights into the philosophy and everyday life behind this special offer.

Individual care – 24/7 for every guest

"We work with a team of eight butlers per deck. Each butler gets to know their guests intimately, understanding their wishes and habits to make their stay as personalized and enjoyable as possible," explains Popovic. Preferences, allergies, and dietary requirements are recorded even before the trip begins so that the suites can be individually furnished.

Service begins in the morning with in-suite breakfast, laundry pickup, and dry cleaning. While guests are out on shore excursions or Zodiac tours, the butlers discreetly take care of all the details. In the evening, turndown service, fresh laundry, and the fulfillment of in-suite dining requests follow.

Highest discretion and professionalism

Professionalism and trust are paramount for the butler team. "We enter our guests' private realm – it's our job to convey a sense of security and well-being," emphasizes Popovic.

Many butlers have been part of the Scenic family for years and bring experience from river and ocean cruises. New team members undergo intensive training to ensure the high standards on board.

From the Mediterranean to the Antarctic

Whether a luxurious cruise in the Mediterranean or an expedition to Antarctica, the butler service adapts to every destination. While almost everything is easy to organize in Europe, deployment in remote regions requires creativity and improvisation. "Especially in Antarctica, we have to be flexible and often find extraordinary solutions to surprise our guests," says Popovic.

Multitasking is one of the biggest challenges: many parallel requests must be processed simultaneously at the highest level – without compromising on quality and exclusivity.

Unforgettable moments on board

The butler service deliberately goes beyond traditional tasks. The goal is to provide guests with an unforgettable luxury experience. Popovic describes one example particularly impressively: An Australian couple was greeted with a loving surprise. Welcome – champagne, a handmade cake with sugar penguins and a personal wedding anniversary card.
