Those who don't want to leave their dog at home will find a well-thought-out solution in the holiday homes of the SevenCollection in the Algarve – and a region that treats dogs as natural travel companions.
Dog-friendly apartments with private entrance
SevenCollection offers designated apartments for travelers with dogs at its Salema and Carvoeiro locations. Dogs up to 12 kg are permitted and will find spacious living areas, separate entrances, and direct access to walking trails.
For a daily fee of €10, a dog bed, food and water bowls are provided – and a small packet of dog biscuits ensures a warm welcome from the start.
A Booking.com study from 2025 also confirms the growing demand for dog-friendly accommodations: More and more travelers are specifically planning their holidays around bringing their pets along.
Holiday homes and apartments are particularly in demand because they offer flexibility, privacy and personal space.
The Algarve – a region for dogs and their people
Aside from the accommodation, the Algarve proves to be an exceptionally dog-friendly travel destination.
Especially from autumn to spring, coastal hiking trails along the steep coast, quiet villages in the hinterland and nature reserves such as the Parque Natural da Ria Formosa invite you to take extended excursions.
Even cities can be explored with a dog – leash laws in public ensure smooth interactions with locals and other guests.
Many cafes and restaurants welcome dogs on their terraces, and a provided water bowl is standard in many places. Four-legged friends are also welcome at the SevenCollection portfolio establishments Encci in Carvoeiro and Solecci by Beccis in Salema.
Beach, traffic and practical information
Dogs are prohibited on most beaches during the day in the high season.
Those who set off early, seek out more secluded stretches of beach, or use designated dog beaches will still find opportunities for a refreshing dip together. Outside of peak season, the situation becomes noticeably less crowded.
For day trips along the coast or inland, a rental car is recommended. While buses and regional trains generally allow small dogs in suitable carriers, a car offers more freedom for spontaneous excursions.
