Too much money and no idea what to spend it on? We have a tip that even billionaires can dream of: Spend the money and buy your own island.
Private islands offer privacy, security and seclusion in the most beautiful places in the world. Anyone who buys an exclusive private island only has to expect to pay several million euros. LuxuryEstate.com has put together a few of the fantastic money destroyers for us.
Shelter Island, 27 million euros, Montana, USA
Shelter Island is a 90.300 square meter island in the heart of Flathead Lake in the mountainous north of the USA. The island is characterized by the lush green of the forests and the turquoise waters of Flathead Lake - the largest in Montana and one of the cleanest lakes in the world.

Island lovers can purchase this ultimate retreat for 27 million euros. The price includes the 2.000 square meter property with its eight bathrooms and five bedrooms. In addition to the breathtaking view of the surrounding waters, the imposing building impresses with its 15 meter high ceilings in the bright main hall.
Other highlights of this American hermit's dream include a wine cellar, an indoor shooting range and, of course, direct boat access.
Foot's Cay, 15 million euros, Bahamas
With crystal clear water, white sandy beaches and diverse vegetation, the private island of Foot's Cay in the Bahamas is like paradise. A main harbor, several jetties and beach areas allow direct access to the warm sea.

Both the main house and the traditional Bahamian cottage guest houses are included in the price of around 15 million euros and are spread over the extensive 81.000 square meter property. The main house, located on a green hill, comprises more than 1.200 rooms on 15 square meters, including seven bathrooms and nine bedrooms.
The covered terrace connects seamlessly to the building and represents an extended living and dining area in a breathtaking setting. A private tennis court completes the overall package for the super-rich.
Bass Island, 7,4 million euros, Ontario, Canada
Bass Island in Lake Muskoka in Canada makes the hearts of all nature-loving millionaires beat faster. The majority of the 44.500 square meter area, worth 7,4 million euros, is covered by a deep green pine forest.

Human intervention is hardly evident: even the 800 square meter luxury property blends into the natural landscape of the island. This is ensured by the building materials glass and walnut, which were imported for the house from all over the world and processed with craftsmanship. Large glass fronts extend over all floors and allow for an impressive view.
This can also be enjoyed in the hotel's large spa area - either in the Finnish sauna area or in the Turkish steam bath. Anyone who thinks that technology doesn't play a role here is very wrong: digital thermostat panels in every room enable location-independent regulation via smartphone.
Twichell Island, 5,5 million euros, Florida, USA
Twichell Island, located in Florida, was named the ultimate residential island for the super-rich by the American Discovery Channel. And with good reason: the island boasts clear water, tall palm trees and a tropical climate.

For just 5,5 million euros, the future owner of the island also acquires the Canadian-style guest house and the luxurious main property. This almost 1.000 square meter luxury property in Key West style impresses with vaulted beamed ceilings, a spectacular observation tower and a lagoon-like pool area.
Five bathrooms and bedrooms offer the homeowners plenty of space and privacy. Even though driving on the island is unnecessary, there is room for up to 15 cars in the garage.
Male Orjule, 220.000 square meters, Croatia
Off the northern Adriatic coast lies the picturesque Croatian island of Male Orjule, which impresses with its beautiful Mediterranean vegetation. A multitude of pine and olive trees are scattered across the entire island, nestled by the white beach that leads into the warm sea.

The largely undeveloped island covers 220.000 square meters, half of which is owned by the state of Croatia. The other half can be privately leased for 15.000 euros per year.
A total of five properties may be built on the island: three villas with a size of up to 600 square meters and two residential buildings with dimensions of up to 400 square meters.
